Powerful Names of Jesus in Luke 1-2

As we study Luke, it was striking how the announcements and the songs shouted about WHO was coming. I find that the names of Jesus, the names that we call God, the adjectives we use in prayer and when discussing the Trinity, all tell something of who he is.

Meditating on the names helps me better understand who he is: his mind, heart, character, and will. Sometimes I lean on the Lord and King, the sovereign. Other times I call on Peacemaker or my Way-maker and Creator. I find it reminds me of who he is, what he has done and what he has promised me to do.

In Luke chapters 1 and 2, Jesus is called by name and by descriptor. I have made simple wall hangings that aid (me) in meditating on his names. These six come from these chapters we have just begin to look at. Holy, Savior, Son of the Most High, Horn of Salvation, Light of Revelation, and Christ the Lord represent different aspects of the Son who was announced, the Son who has come.

Do you mediate on the names of God? What name of God are you leaning on these days? Let me know below.
