Jeri Gunderson

Can I sign This Song?

My presentation is an encounter with Psalm 129 and the Imprecatory Psalms in general; psalms that most of us would rather avoid at the least or wonder how this can be sacred scripture at best. The title " Can I Sing This Song?" asks the big question right away. In the presentation, I offer a way to approach all the Imprecatory Psalms and then apply the approach to this Psalm in particular. I do offer an answer to the title in the presentation. The major takeaways would be the way the reader can approach these difficult psalms, the example of that approach for Psalm 129, and, I think, my perhaps surprising conclusion that leads to deeper, introspective questions of all of us as we walk this earthly journey toward our forever home. I also offer Discussion Questions and include the interpretive method used in a handout.
