Dr. Lisa Stanton

The Three C's of Waiting Well

In The Three C’s of Waiting Well, Dr. Lisa Stanton shares her personal journey from striving for control to learning surrender through an unexpected and deeply stretching season of waiting. From a time of not believing in God to experiencing His faithfulness in profound ways, she walks through her and her husband’s path toward starting a family, marked by uncertainty, prayer, and trust.

Through her story, she introduces three essential practices for navigating any waiting season: confession (bringing honest emotions to God), collaboration (taking faithful action while surrendering the outcome), and community (inviting others into the process). This talk offers a grounded and hopeful framework for anyone facing uncertainty, reminding them that God’s goodness is not just found at the end of the story, but right in the middle of it.

Dr. Lisa Stanton holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Minnesota, specializing in behavior change for chronic disease prevention and control. By day, she works as a clinical researcher in the health tech space.

Closest to her heart, however, is sharing her story with thousands of readers through her Substack, The Unlearning Gazette, and on Instagram (@drlisastanton). There, she shares her recovery from addiction, eating disorders, anxiety, ADHD, irritable bowel syndrome, alopecia areata, and more.

Her work reflects a journey from believing scientific knowledge could solve all her problems to discovering the transformative power of a relationship with God. Look for the release of her debut book in Summer 2026, along with new resources and workshops from The Unlearning Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit she recently co-founded with her husband Kevin.
