The Bible Begins With Chaos
The opening verses of Genesis describe the earth as “formless and empty,” covered in darkness and deep waters. Then God begins to speak.
Light separates from darkness. Land emerges from the sea. Seasons, days, and years are established. Creation unfolds step by step as God shapes a world where life can flourish. (See Genesis 1:1–10.)

Jesus speaks directly into that experience when He says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” (John 14:27)

Jesus Shows God’s Authority Over Chaos
The life of Jesus continues this theme in powerful ways.
One night, as the disciples cross the Sea of Galilee, a violent storm begins to overwhelm their boat. Waves crash over the sides, and experienced fishermen panic.
Yet when Jesus speaks, the wind and sea become calm. (See Mark 4:35–41.)
In that moment the disciples realize something profound: the same God who brought order to creation is present in the boat with them. Chaos does NOT have the final word when Christ is present.
The Bible’s Story Ends With Restored Order
The final chapters of the Bible show the completion of God’s work.
Revelation describes a renewed creation where suffering, death, and disorder are removed and life flows from God’s presence once again. (See Revelation 21:1–5.)
The story that began with a formless world ends with a restored one. From beginning to end, Scripture shows that God moves toward disorder not to abandon it—but to redeem it.
